As I talked about in my last post 7 Steps on How to Go from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be the first step you must take is to decide. I want to make sure that you understand what I mean by decide.
I looked up Mark 1 versus 16-18 to help illustrate the point.
16 As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 17“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” 18At once they left their nets and followed him.
Here are three keys to what a firm decision means…
- A firm decision must be quick and decisive. Go with your gut.
- A firm decision requires you to drop all other options, not look back and follow just one.
- A firm decision means that you will not always know what is around the corner but you have the faith to know that you are willing to pay the price.
As a coach I am often asked the following words…
I was thinking about…what do you think?
As you are looking at your business and life, I believe that you instinctively know what your gut is telling you to do. You need to make the decision, cut off all other possibilities and move forward with confidence. I think what Henry David Thoreau said sums it up perfectly..
“If one advances confidently in the direction of one’s dreams, and endeavors to live the life which on has imagined, one will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
I would like to know your thoughts! Please leave a comment below and lets talk about decisions!

Whether you want to admit it or not, problems are heading your way and most problems become big issues because they were “unexpected”. Far too often we don’t take pro-active measures to prepare ourselves for when problems show up. I see tragedies strike every day. Someone gets sick, there is an accident, or a financial crisis takes over…but do these problems have to have such a major impact?
I saw a post today that said NBC has canceled Tony Robbins new show, Breakthrough. I thought to myself, what is wrong with America when the majority of people would rather sit like drones in front of their TV’s watching Desperate Housewives, The Bachelorette, or somebody get voted off some island rather than having the opportunity to learn how to effectively change their lives.
First and foremost let it be know that I am not a cat lover. In fact, I am extremely allergic to these fur balls. But one thing I am not allergic to is connecting with people. Business is built on relationships. How successful you become is in direct proportion to the relationships you have in your life.
I think I may be addicted. Every time Willie Wonka comes on TV, I find myself drawn into this maze of endless possibilities and opportunity. I could be doing just about anything else, but if that show comes on, I feel compelled to watch.
Do have and “what if’s” in your life? What is you had made a different choice? What if you had left 10 minutes earlier? What if you had said something nice?
